Director's Note:
In early October of 1998, Matthew Shepard, a 21 year old gay man, was brutally beaten, tied to a fence for 18 hours, and left to die. His murder focused international attention on hate. A company of NYC actors visited Laramie, Wyoming, the scene of the crime, and interviewed over 200 people. The result of their efforts is The Laramie Project. What you are about to see is our interpretation of the play they created. My heart is so filled with pride, respect, and gratitude for my cast, and for Izzy. You are all my heroes.
Note: this show includes homophobic language, slurs, and graphic descriptions of violence. There will be a talkback with the cast on Sunday, July 17th at 2pm at the Pavilion for anyone who would like to further discuss the subject matter seen in the show.
